Alasdair Russell from Cancer Research UK joined us at last year's Research Summit to talk about the genome editing revolution - a technology which is breaking down traditional barriers between disciplines.

Almost every cell in your body contains DNA, which is vast, complex and constantly rapidly remoulding and rebuilding. Previously, the focus of DNA research has been on reading and sequencing these highly complex structures which contain incredible amounts of information.

In this talk, Alasdair explains how genome editing has proven to be a significant disruptor for clinical research. In just a few years, a relatively basic scientific discovery has transformed at a pace never seen before, with the potential for significant impact across healthcare, agriculture, and living data storage, to name just a few. We explore what CRISPR technology is, how it works, and what the future might hold.
