Why do LPIs in GIC have no "active" state?

Hi,

I am reading the "GIC architecture specification v3 and v4". In the spec, it is said LPIs have no "active" state, why? With no "active" state, can LPIs be preempted?

  • I would like to add a little more. The LPI and SPI, SGI, ...etc are managed by distributor. The only difference is that the LPI pending table is in the memory, and the others are in registers. I cannot understand why LPI can not have the same mechanism as the others.
