Arm is pleased to announce the opening of our new Seattle office. Recently, we celebrated the one-year mark since Arm officially became part of the Softbank Group. Since then, we’ve delivered new products with an ever-expanding list of partners who, cumulatively, have now shipped more than 100 billion Arm-powered chips. Not to mention, more than 1,000 people have joined Arm and we’re continuing to build the team across the globe.
Just this spring, we announced DynamIQ and the Arm Compute Library which has already opened new doors for the potential of AI applications to be developed on Arm technology. Part of Arm's great success is due to our focus on side by side collaboration with our customers and partners to drive innovative next generation experiences, which is why we’re pleased to announce the expansion of our presence in the Pacific Northwest with a new office in Bellevue.
Due to the density of major cloud and IoT players in the region, and their investments in machine learning and artificial intelligence, Seattle is the ideal place to work alongside customers and partners who are building the software and services that will power and connect the next 100 billion Arm-based devices. The vibrant local economy is at the forefront of developing technologies to improve human life such as machine learning, augmented reality, virtual reality, cloud computing, robotics, drones, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things.
We’re still settling in, but right now the Seattle team has an expanded focus to develop technologies to power the future of healthcare, IoT, fundamental research, and robotics. There are also resources dedicated to sales and new business development. While the entire the team is local to Bellevue, they are responsible for supporting at a global level to ensure we are developing technology that will change how we live around the world. Arm’s partners have sold more than 100 billion Arm-based processors over the course of the last 27 years and we’re humbled by projections indicating that it will take only another four years for our partners to sell the next 100 billion units. This prediction is driven by the exponential growth in demand for our technology, and we believe the expansion to Seattle will help us move forward to the next 100 billion units.
