The reason why so many first questions end up in 'Infrastructure Solutions'

It can't have escaped notice that the 'Infrastructure Solutions' forum seems to be the "dumping ground" for loads of first posts which should be in other forums.

The reason has now been explained by :

"I don't choose the correct forum because I click on '+ New' without seeing below the forum selected by default.

It would be very useful to give the possibility to choose the forum after clicking '+ New' button."

pressing that '+New' button does, indeed, create a post in the 'Infrastructure Solutions' forum - without prompting, or offering any choice:

  • Hey Andy

So I was testing this morning, and I found it was because the Infra forum is the only one that is 'attached' to the main forums page. For the most part, the other forums exist in their own group. I think this is an example of an inconsistent build process from the past, so I am looking to see if I can remove that button altogether or not.

On this topic, we will soon be updating our list of forums to closer align to the naming conventions used in our Developer website. This will include having all forums attached to the same page, simplifying the site structure for everyone. I'll post a blog about the upcoming changes soon.

For today however, I'll post a final update once I find out if I can remove that button or not.

    Thanks

    Oli
