ARM newbie

Hi, long time Mainframe and x86 Server Infrastructure person looking to experiment with ARM. Looking for recommendations for a good (reasonably priced) starter dev kit. Also, does anyone know if there are any ARM kits that support PCIe or more specifically M.2 storage.

Thanks for any feedback.

  • Most ARM development boards do not have PCIe support as they are designed for battery operated cell phones or other portable devices.  Generally these devices have poor mass storage performance as far as general linux computing is concerned.  Processors designed for WiFi routers do have PCIe support as it is needed for high speed transfers between the radio, the processor and ethernet.  Marvell makes a few. www.amazon.com/.../ref=sr_1_1
